Police and crime commissioners

Police and crime commissioners are elected by the public to ensure the policing needs of communities are met as effectively as possible and to oversee how crime is tackled in your police force area.

John Dwyer

Since 2021, crime in Cheshire has fallen 3.1%. Arrests are up 30%. Burglaries are down 7%.

We’ve turned a corner on policing since I was elected as Police and Crime Commissioner three years ago. The plan is working.

I’m proud of what we have achieved together so far:

  • 322 extra police officers for Cheshire – we now have over 2,400 officers, the highest number in the force’s history.
  • We’re putting the brakes on dangerous driving, with drink driving arrests up 8.3% and almost 13% for drug driving – keeping you safe on our roads.
  • Over 90% of all 999 calls are answered within 10 seconds and 101 waiting times are down to an average of five minutes.

But the job isn’t done yet.

I have a clear plan to make Cheshire even safer.

We need to keep cutting crime and anti-social behaviour across our towns and villages, and make Cheshire’s roads safer.

We need to take on the scourge of rural crime that affects too many farms and businesses.

We need to tackle fraud, theft, and cybercrime and protect vulnerable people from criminal activity.

And we will continue to ensure that 101 and 999 calls are getting answered quicker, with reports responded to faster, so criminals know they won’t get away with it.

My plan for Cheshire will deliver more police and safer streets.  But I can only deliver this if re-elected as Cheshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner.

Your vote will decide if we continue to put more police on our streets and in our communities. Or go back to square one.

Help me make Cheshire even safer with more police and safer streets by voting Conservative on Thursday 2nd May.
